A Sheridan man died Thursday evening after being hit by a car while retrieving his mail, according to Boone County police.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office responded around 5:30 p.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck in the 8400 block east of Ind. 47.
The man, identified as Leon Brandenburg, 83, was pronounced dead at the scene.
He was struck by a woman driving a 2007 Toyota RAV4, the sheriff’s office said. She was not injured.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, and the driver is not facing charges at this time, according to the sheriff’s office.
