Just after 7:40 p.m. on 11/01//2017, officers with the IMPD were dispatched to the 2500 block of W Morris St on reports of a person struck. Responding officers located an unresponsive 72-year-old male on the side of Morris St. Officers immediately began administering chest compressions until EMS personnel arrived. EMS transported the victim to Eskenazi hospital in extremely critical condition. Despite the best life-saving efforts by medical staff, the victim succumbed to his injuries.
Accident investigators responded to the scene and began canvassing the area for witnesses. During the initial investigation, a motorized scooter was located nearby and had received damage from an impact. Preliminary reports indicate that the victim was west on Morris St when he was struck by an unknown vehicle.
