Two men are dead after a crash on Interstate 465 late Thursday night.
It happened just east of the Michigan Road exit just before midnight.
State Police identified the victims as 33-year-old Andrew Blackwell of Greenwood and 25-year-old Brenden Harper of Indianapolis.
The crash involved a semi tractor-trailer the was parked on the highway’s right shoulder while waiting for roadside assistance. The truck driver had his hazard lights on and placed cones behind the truck.
Police said Blackwell was driving a Chevy van heading west when it went onto the shoulder and struck the rear of the semi. Harper was pronounced dead at the scene. Blackwell was taken to the hospital but died there.
The semi driver, Raimundo Luis of Miami, Florida was treated at the scene.
INDOT said all westbound lanes were blocked after the crash. All lanes were back open Friday shortly before 5:45 a.m.
