Slick roads led to crashes and slide-offs throughout Central Indiana Thursday morning, including chain-reaction wrecks in Carmel.
The Carmel Fire Department said 27 vehicles were involved in a “minor pile-up” crash on 96th Street near Hazel Dell Road at about 7 a.m. Thursday.
Four people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries and about a dozen more were checked out on the scene, officials said.
Carmel Clay Schools sent a bus to the scene to provide shelter to the drivers involved in the crash.
Crews dislodged the vehicles and cleared 96th Street by about 9:45 a.m.
