Around midnight Wednesday, officers were sent to the intersection of 26th St. and Sherman Drive on the report of a serious crash with entrapment. When officers arrived, they found an unresponsive female driver who was later pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS medicsl. A passenger, 22-year-old Devante Conner, was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in serious condition.
Preliminary investigations show the driver lost control of her vehicle and hit a utility pole in the 2500 block of North Sherman Drive and then struck a second utility pole in the 2600 block of Sherman Drive. Initial investigations do not show any obvious signs that alcohol was a contributing factor. However, the circumstances are still under investigation.
