On Monday, November 12th, 2018, at 10:42 a.m., Carmel Police responded to a vehicle accident in the 11000 block of Ditch Road. Officers arrived and found one vehicle inverted and on fire.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it appears a black 2017 Ford Fusion was traveling northbound Ditch Road near the 11000 block. For some unknown reason, the Ford veered off the roadway and struck a tree on the east side of the roadway. The passenger of the Ford, a 75-year old female, was from Carmel, IN. She was taken to St. Vincent 86th Street Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased as result of the accident.
The driver of the Ford Fusion,76-year old male from Carmel, IN, was taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Ditch Road between 116th Street and 106th Street was closed for several hours while the accident reconstructionists from Carmel Police Department investigated the crash. It appears speed was a factor in the crash.
