Accident investigators responded to the scene just after 5 pm on 09/25/16 and conducted their investigation, which included interviewing witnesses. Investigators believe that the motorcyclist was south on Meridian St in the 7300 block, when a vehicle exiting a parking lot was turning left to go north on Meridian St. The motocyclist was unable to stop in time to avoid a collision and was thrown from his bike. Investigators do not believe alcohol played a factor in the accident, however, the driver of the other vehicle was taken to Eskenazi Hospital for a blood draw, as is standard procedure for accidents involving a fatality. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. The name of the motorcyclist will be released once next-of-kin notification has been made and verified.
